Circuit Breakers

June 18, 2015

Each apartment has its own switchboard, generally to be found in a hall cupboard. The board has a number of miniature circuit breakers, pictured below. They are characterised by a T-shaped blue switch and a small blue button, (embossed with a T, for Test), used for testing the device. A test should be carried out periodically, say, every three months. Press the button: if the blue switch flies down, good. Re-set it. If nothing happens, bad (although this is unusual, the devices normally being very reliable). It means the circuit won’t trip in an electrical emergency and you should call an electrician to have it replaced.

This advice will be included in the Apartment Manual.
